Currently I work as Research Director at the Finnish Youth Research Network.
My background is in sociology, and I have a long experience as youth researcher within multidisciplinary networks.
Previously I have worked as a teacher, researcher and administrator at the University of Helsinki, as well as executive director of a national children's aid organization.
My special areas include sociology of childhood and youth, sociology of education, gender studies, cultural studies and family research. I am specialized in qualitative methods, including discourse analysis and participatory methods.
Currently I coordinate the research project 'Youth in time - qualitative longitudinal study on youth in Finland', which is a cooperative project between Youth Research Network, University of Eastern Finland, University of Helsinki and University of Oulu.
I have published widely both in Finnish and English.
