Wings to fly – Social circus empowers young immigrants to find their place in society

Wings to fly is a social circus project coordinated by the Children and Youth Foundation. The aim is to support the transitional periods of young people with immigrant backgrounds, especially young people who have recently arrived, and strengthen not only young people's inclusion but their well-being and life skills as well. The focus on the circus activities is on teaching the Finnish language and culture in equal context, which makes bonding with young Finns possible. Inclusion will also be strengthened by creating opportunities for young people to participate, for example, in guiding circus activities during the lesson breaks and circuses' basic activities. The overall operation will be carried out in cooperation with educational institutions, immigrant and youth services in Tampere, Vantaa and Lappeenranta and its results will be disseminated nationwide.

The Finnish Youth Research Network is one of the stakeholders.

The project is financed by the European Social Fund. The funding in Finland is managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
