At the core of youth information and counselling services (2019)

Since autumn 2017 the Koordinaatti national centre of expertise has been working on defining youth information and counselling work and the related services. This definition work is one of the tasks of the Koordinaatti national centre of expertise.

The aim of the definition work is to describe in words the information and counselling services provided to young people in the field of youth work and as part of the diverse services directed at young people and to clarify the targets, operations and methods set for the work. The aim of the definition process is to help people engaged in youth work to understand the youth information and counselling work and interpret their own work.

The Finnish Youth Research Network is carrying out a project (March – June 2019) that will support the definition work from a research perspective. The data for this is the material produced in workshops organised by Koordinaatti which is complemented with interviews with stakeholders. The project is managed by Anu Gretschel, Ph.D., and the researcher is Karla Malm, M.Soc.Sc.
