Election Study (2011–2012)
The project scrutinises the following themes in a multidimensional way: youth voting behaviour, public discussions on youth and generational politics before the elections, and the political position of youth in the analysed public media discussions. The project is divided into three parts. Before the elections media data (traditional and social media) is collected, and questions related to elections and voting are included in the Youth Barometer survey done in February – March. After the elections a separate youth questionnaire is made to collect youth assessments on the past elections, both as a part of political culture and when reflecting upon their own political participation in the elections, and compared to other forms of political activity. The project is done in cooperation with the Advisory Council for Youth Affairs, also building a dialogue with the Finnish Ministry of Justice.
